Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold a total of 102,416 units in January, 2014. This includes 5847 units for export. The company had sold a total of 114,205 units in January 2013. This translates into a de-growth of 10.3pc. Among its cars, its Omni and Eeco registered a positive growth of 11.6pc clocking 9345 units (8374 units). The super compact Dzire sold 19232 units (17060) registering a 12.7pc positive growth. The compact segment comprising Swift, Estilo, Rtz and Celerio (the cars despatched to dealers) sold 24473 units (24006 ), recording a 1.9pc increase in sales. The bad performers included SX4 which saw a fall of 81.1pc at 191 units as compared to 1012 in January 2013. The mini segment too with its M800, Alto, A star and Wagon R mustered 38565 units (46479 units), a 17pc fall. Its utility vehicles comprising the Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga could only record 4763 units (6095 units), registering a 21.9pc fall. Kizashi continued to score a duck in sales.
